WHY RICH

Our current senator, Rachel May, is out of touch with everyday Central New Yorkers. The downstate Democrats' priorities are her priorities, and far too often that is how she votes. Well, we don't live in Manhattan.

If you live in the 48th Senate District, you probably like the idea of being able to decide how to heat your home. You probably also like the choice of living in a city, suburban, or rural setting and chose that area because of the characteristics of that setting. Rich knows that we have wonderful communities in all of these settings – and great villages too! But Rachel May thinks NY State should be able to completely change the character of neighborhoods by overriding local zoning—regardless of what the people who live there voted for. She also thinks that NY State should tell you how to heat your home.

Rachel May says she wants affordable housing, but time and again, she votes for mandates that make homes more expensive for people in CNY. She also votes for legislation, like electric buses, that make things more expensive for school districts, which in turn makes things more expensive for CNY taxpayers.

Something has to change.

Rich McCarron has been helping families buy and sell homes in CNY for over a decade, and he knows firsthand how Rachel May's votes make it harder and harder to afford a home. Common sense tells us that as home prices rise (and energy costs too!), it makes it harder and harder for people to afford housing.

Rich believes that how you heat your home and cook your food is your choice. He also believes that whether or not you drive an electric car is your choice—and that local school districts should decide what types of buses best fit their needs.

As a county legislator, Rich has voted to lower the tax burden of residents. He can do that because he supports economic development like the Micron project that will bring jobs and growth to Central New York like we have never seen before.

With thousands more residents coming in the next several years, there will be more jobs for people to support the new residents. From custodians to cardiologists and from hairdressers to home builders, the list of jobs is almost endless.

Rich McCarron is a proven leader and a common-sense candidate who understands how real people live. Let's send him to the State Senate!
